
Individual Counseling:
Individual face-to-face therapy interventions with the child/children to address the specific behavioral and emotional issues that are affecting the home, social and school environments. successful functioning within the home, in school, or in the community. Licensed and masters prepared behavioral health provide this service within the home or in another confidential location within the community. Sessions typically occur once or twice a week depending on need. Individual “talk therapy” encourages the child to express his or her feelings and thoughts about their life situation and teaches them more effective ways to deal with everyday stressors and communicate their needs in a positive and productive fashion.
Therapists may utilize play techniques to elicit participation, may practice repetititive modeling and role playing to assists children in learning effective coping techniques. Clinicians use an experiential approach with younger children by practicing appropriate behaviors with positive reinforcement, and utilize more cognitive behavioral approaches with older children and adolescents.
